A Schoolhouse That Rocks
PIM Arts High (formerly Main Street School of Performing Arts or MSSPA) started as a vision of the Hopkins School District, a place where students could explore and expand their passion for performing arts while getting a first-rate education. Stages Theatre came on board as a co-sponsor, and thus a school was born!
Build it, but will they come? The new principal worked on finding a building, creating a curriculum, and hiring staff. Graphic designer Erin Scott of Wylde Hare, LLC and I set out to establish an identity for the school, increase awareness, and encourage students (and their parents) to put their faith, dreams, and educational future in the hands of this inspired school and its leaders.
Since its inception in 2003, the school has led the way in providing exceptional education and artistic opportunities for high school students from across the metro area. As enrollment grew, a new building was in order. In 2016-17 MSSPA relocated to Eden Prairie and became the Performing Institute of Minnesota Arts High School (PiM Arts High). New courses and programming were added, and enrollment continues to expand. Students are featured in local media and performances across the metro, guest artists grace the classrooms, and graduates have gone on to meaningful secondary pursuits and success. It was a thrill to work with this outstanding school as they prepare students for any stage of life.
