Safe Schools | Healthy Students initiative

The Safe Schools/Healthy Students initiative impacted school districts nationwide. And in northern Minnesota’s Duluth, Hermantown, and Proctor School Districts, they simultaneously put this powerful program in place. No easy feat! The multifaceted program focusing on school-based mental health, social and emotional learning, tobacco, alcohol and drug prevention, and more brought meaningful changes to classrooms, teachers’ workshops, and school boards.

I was contracted to help tell the tale of how this powerful four-year effort transformed students, teachers, families, and community partners and became a national model for others to emulate. Safer schools? Healthier students? It was a story I was privileged to help share with others.
